Oliver Clibon was born May 1, 1911, in Elbert, Colorado. His father, John Clibon, originally from Missouri, was a homesteader in Elbert County. After serving in World War II, Clibon spent 20 years as a wheat harvester on the plains of Colorado, Kansas and Texas, making his home in Elbert. Clibon discusses living through the Dustbowl on Colorado’s eastern plains.
Chuck Bowman was born in North Carolina in December 31, 1892. After living many years with his family in Kentucky, Bowman moved to Lamar, in Prowers County, in the 1920s. He and his wife, Rhoda, raised their children in Lamar and lived there the rest of their lives. Bowman talks about the effects of the Dustbowl in the Lamar area.
